Event Description

The European Cryogenics Course is organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Dresden (TUD) / Germany, the Wrocław University of Science and Technology / Poland and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) of Trondheim / Norway.

This year’s course begins on August 27 – August 21 at TU Dresden and focuses on “Basics, liquid hydrogen technology.” The second part of the course takes place August 24 – August 28 at WUST Wroclaw in Poland and deals with “Helium technology, cryocoolers, instrumentation.” Finally NTNU of Trondheim, Norway offers a course from August 31 – September 4 on “liquefied natural gas.”

Lecturers are both members of the organizing universities and a number of invited external experts. In addition to the lessons, the program of the ECC includes technical excursions, tutorials and demonstrations. The course finishes with two written examinations (“Cryogenics Fundamentals” and “Cryogenic Processes”) in accordance with ECTS standards.

The course is open to master and PhD students from the organizing universities, as well as potentially from other universities and institutions, who are interested in cryogenic technology. Applications should apply with a CV, including a photo, and a letter of motivation. Due to the limited capacity, interested students should submit applications as soon as possible (before the end of April) to increase their chances for participation.

More information is available on the ECC website and ECC 2026 Flyer.
